The high-voltage generator is composed of diesel and heavy oil. It has the characteristics of high voltage regulation accuracy, good dynamic performance, small voltage waveform distortion, high efficiency, compact structure, convenient maintenance, reliable operation, long service life and good economic performance.
In general communication hub, low-voltage generator set can solve the problem of standby power supply. In large communication hubs, especially large IDC, it is more suitable to use high-voltage generators. That is to say, the high-voltage generator set is suitable for the scenario where the load required by the oil engine is large and the diesel engine room is far away from the load, so the large-capacity generator set is needed. The single-unit capacity of high-voltage generating units is relatively large, mainly concentrated in more than 1000kW. Taking Caterpillar 10 kV generating unit as an example, its single unit capacity is 1000 kVA-3100 kVA in 1500 r/min series and 2688 kVA-7150 kVA in 1000 r/min series.
The application of high-voltage generator set leads to the problem of the conversion point between generator set and municipal power. In 380V low-voltage system, the conversion point between generator set and municipal power is naturally at the low-voltage side. For high-voltage generating units, if the low-voltage side is still switched with the local power supply, there will be many switching points due to the decentralization of low-voltage load, which will increase the complexity of the system. Therefore, in the case of using high-voltage generating units, the scheme of switching between high-voltage side and municipal power is usually adopted.
